How many total hours is a Monthly Contact Lens good for?

My doctor prescribed me Proclear Toric monthly contact lenses. I only wear my contacts three days a month on average, 8 hours per day for a total per month of 25 hours. Does a monthly contact lens mean that it’s supposed to be good for 8 hours per day for 30 days, for a total of 240 hours of wear? If that’s the case, then each of my lenses is good for 10 months and my box with 6 lenses will last me for 5 years. If all of this is correct, then why on earth would I want to buy 5 years worth of contact lenses when my prescription changes every year? Why don’t they just sell single lenses? Does a monthly lens mean 240 hours of wear? Why don’t they just tell people that?
Anyone else out there who knows anything about contact lenses?

    they are meant to be worn every day during the month because most people use them that way.
    if you use them only 3 days a month they will problably still wear out in a few months from sitting in the cleaning solution.
    if they come sitting in the solution even then they will probably last you forevor just as you said.
