Cleaning contact case — cold water, hot water, only solution?

I hate that it’s taken me this long to wonder about this, but I’m beginning to think the information I was given a while back might not have been accurate, and am hoping for some answers.

I wear contacts — Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear — and of course keep them in a case overnight. I rinse them every day with contact solution, but every few days, I rinse them in hot water, as well.

A friend told me she does this and that it’s alright; it won’t hurt the lenses — but I’ve also seen a lot saying tap water is horrible for contacts / eyes, and I should never use it.

But if it’s that bad, why is it okay to get water in eyes when in the shower, washing face, etc.?

And ultimately, what’s the best way to do it?

    The solution you disinfect your contacts with the solution you disinfect your contacts with the solution you can clean as well never use tap water.

    Tap water is very bad for contacts as it dries them out. only wash your contacts with solution. the contact case however needs to be cleaned with hot water and a mild soap like handwashing soap… then you rinse VERY well and then flush it with solution before you put the contacts back in it to dilute any extra water that may be in there. but contacts should never come in contact with tap water.
